BAYI’S
STATEMENT OF CONCERN
The simple
humble from the heart statement was made by Major (rtd)
Filbert Bayi many times over each time he was asked to
tell the secret of his success in achieving numerous
sports achievements. Over the years the above
statement became his lifetime motto on whatever he
undertook and the philosophy worked all the time as
can be witnessed by the many existing public and
private projects that have Filbert Bayi's devotion and
commitment.
For many years Filbert Bayi had this
dream of creating an institution that would create an
environment where the existing abundant sports talents
can be developed to the full potential. This dream
came about after witnessing painful experience where
young sports talents had been wasted due to lack of
simple but crucial resources and inadequate patronage
to hopeful young ones.
Filbert
Bayi's long life dream of spreading his philosophy was
ultimately realised in the year 2002 and now a trustee
has been founded. The foundation has been created to
promote the spirit of 'commitment, consistency and
sacrifice' to both young and old Tanzanians. Filbert
Bayi's strong conviction that participation in sports
naturally leads to a healthy individuals at a lower
level and a healthy nation at a higher level and
ultimately resulted in the creation of this crucial
institution where people from all walks of life are
welcome to pursue their own individual lifetime dreams
of excelling in sports and sports related activities.
Filbert
Bayi's persistent determination that led him to making
himself a household name as one of the most respected
athletes of his time, internally and worldwide. He and
his fellows have finally created a stage, a large
stage where all Tanzanians can fully display and
develop their potentials. The Foundation has come at
an opportune moment in Tanzania where there are many
sports conscious people who need such a stage to
practise and participate in sports activities without
fear or discrimination. In addition, the foundation
will involve itself fully in supporting
sportsmen/women to participate actively in other
economic and social activities.
